Trenchlesspedia Explains Carriage

The carriage of a non-split boring machine is analogous to the engine compartment and drive train of an automobile. In the engine compartment, you find the engine. This is attached to the transmission and driveshaft, like the drive train of the boring machine. The carriage is also where the machine’s hydraulic cylinders are mounted. The carriage system utilizes a rotary drive which allows a maximum speed of 120 ft per minute, depending upon the composition of the soil.
