What Does Spiral Lining Mean?

Spiral lining is a method of pipelining that uses a spirally-wound profiled strip to form a continuous lining. It is a form of sliplining that involves a winding machine and a spool of profile strips that interlock to create a watertight liner.

Sliplining is used in trenchless rehabilitation to extend the life of older pipes that have become defective over time.

Trenchlesspedia Explains Spiral Lining

One method for rehabilitation of a defective pipe is to use spiral lining. It is a trenchless construction technology that allows for rehabilitation of existing pipe without the interruption of service.

Spiral lining material may include polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or high-density polyethylene (HDPE). The creation of a spiral lining begins in the insertion pit of a trenchless construction site. Profile strips of the versatile material are fed through a winding machine to form a lining for a defective pipe. The completed lining is often grouted in place to the host pipe.
