End-to-End Solution

Published: November 30, 2017 | Last updated: July 5, 2023

What Does End-to-End Solution Mean?

An end-to-end solution, in the context of trenchless construction, is a repair method that entails rehabilitation of the existing (target) pipe along its entire length (also known as manhole-to manhole). This is in direct contrast to spot (point) repair which only targets individual leaks and other failures identified at specific locations.

Trenchlesspedia Explains End-to-End Solution

Water and wastewater pipe rehabilitation can be extensive and resource intensive. Larger and older piping systems tend to require more frequent maintenance and repairs. It is therefore important that the method of rehabilitation be carefully selected to ensure optimum value for time and money.

End-to-end methods like cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) lining and pipe bursting can provide a solution that is complete, longer lasting and more reliable. However, this method of pipe repair can be overkill for certain types of defects and can tend to be expensive. In cases where pipe damage is localized and limited to a few areas, spot repairs can be more cost-effective, faster and can result in less overall disruption.
