Trenchlesspedia Explains Design-Build

Design-build involves single-source responsibility for every aspect of a construction process. The owner has a single point of contact and does not have to act as a middleman between design and build organizations. Traditional construction project delivery is a more complicated process. The owner of the project works with both the designer and the construction contractor, and each of these work with sub-consultants or sub-contractors.

According to the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA), design-build offers several advantages over the traditional method. The delivery speed, construction speed, cost and schedule growth, and unit cost are all significantly better with design-build. Trenchless construction project benefit from design-build when they are able to leverage these potential advantages.
