What Does Tunneling Association Of Canada Mean?

The Tunneling Association of Canada (TAC) is the Canadian representative of the International Tunneling Association (ITA).

TAC helps Canadian tunneling contractors to keep in touch with tunneling experts from all over the world. This helps TAC to practice and strive to maintain a high standard for international excellence. This is achieved by conducting association-sponsored meetings, courses and workshops across Canada to encourage the best in design and safety of underground construction and tunnel maintenance.

Trenchlesspedia Explains Tunneling Association Of Canada

TAC has some objectives that it considers to be of prime importance in keeping up to date with safety and best practices in sync with ITA.

TAC promotes and advances underground tunneling and excavation technologies, safe design, construction and maintenance. It facilitates information exchange of activities and technical developments in this field.

TAC also acts as an intermediary between Canadian contractors, individuals or organizations and the ITA. It helps spread news, activities and developments of the ITA to its Canadian counterparts.

Most importantly TAC maintains a record or register of underground excavations, tunnels and other related works. This makes it convenient for contractors to gain information about the site conditions and utility lines passing through a particular area that they may be working on.
